چکیده

Twinning costs the dairy industry an estimated $96 million each year. Twin pregnancy occurrence in high-producing cows is primarily a result of multiple ovulations associated with low circulating concentrations progesterone due to high milk production. The present retrospective observational study aimed identify associations between (1) previous parity yield and subsequent twin birth prevalence, (2) same production calving interval (CInt), (3) calving. final data set included almost 2.9 US records 2001 2020. Variables considered were parity, breed, production, CInt, month, Logistic linear regression modeling used assess effects predictors on outcomes. Herd within state was as random effect for all models. probability increased independent breed or parity. Third greater (3+) compared second breeds Jerseys probability. Calving April September that corresponded conceiving July through December births decreased following event Holsteins 2 months June September. Surprisingly, 3+ 305-d yield. Cows had more likely calve twins risk having CInt 413 600 d. hazard after single births. These can be instrumental guiding research focus reducing twinning lactating cows.

Association between the lactation curve shape and calving interval in Holstein dairy cows of Iran

This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between early lactation curve parameters andcalving interval in Holstein cows of Iran. In order to describe the lactation curve, the incomplete gammafunction was fitted to 5,754,428 test-day milk records corresponding to 766,108 lactations on 315,634 cowsin 2,448 herds. Cows with higher milk yield during early lactation had shorter calv...

Genetic Trends for Milk Yield, Persistency of Milk Yield,Somatic Cell Count and Calving Interval in Holstein Dairy Cows of Iran

The objective of the present study was to estimate genetic trends for lactation milk yield, persistency of milk yield, somatic cell count and interval between first and second calving in Holstein dairy cows of Iran. The dataset consisted of 210,625 test day and 25,883 first parity cows with milk yield recorded from July 2002 to September 2007 comprising 97 herds in Iran. Breeding values of anim...

An Optimum Regression Model to Estimate Economic Values for Milk Yield, Milk Yield Persistency and Calving Interval in Dairy Cattle

Emphasis on milk yield (MY) as well as milk yield persistency (MYP) and calving interval (CI) is necessary to achieve more sustainable productionin dairy cattle. Therefore the main objective of this study was to find an optimum regression model to estimate economic values for MY, MYP and CI.Using a deterministic bio-economic model, seventyfiveproduction states differing mainly in MY, MYPand CIw...

Genetic Relationship between Milk Production, Calving Ease and Days Open at First Parity in Holstein Cows

Data containing 14,188 lactation and reproductive records of Korean Holstein cows at first parity distributed across 3,734 herd-year-season groups were analyzed to get genetic (co)variance estimates for milk yield, fat yield, calving ease, and days open. Milk and Fat yields were adjusted to 305 d. Heritabilities and genetic correlations were estimated in two different animal models on which wer...

Association of Birth Type and Pregnancy Type with Lactation Performance and Lactation Curve in Holstein Dairy Cows in Iran

The association of birth type (single vs. double) and pregnancy type (single vs. double) with lactation performance and lactation curve was investigated in Holstein cows in Iran. Data of 243298 lactations on 138021 cows in 261 herds collected during January 2000 to December 2012 were used. The average twinning rate was 3.64% and ranged from 1.44% (primiparous) to 5.41% (multiparous). Factors as...
